Setolabo LLC (Headquarters: Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, Representative: Doctor Yuki Okada) completed the construction of the Setolabo Sanitary Testing Center (also known as the Chugoku-Shikoku PCR Testing Center), which can perform PCR tests for the new coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2) in October 2020. Currently, the center is waiting for final approval from the Takamatsu City Health Center, and once approved, it will immediately establish the largest testing system in Chugoku and Shikoku, boasting a processing capacity of up to 3,500 samples per day.
After approval, the facility will not be able to open to the public due to infection prevention measures, so it will first be open to the media.
As of October, the facility had already established the equipment and systems to conduct PCR tests for the new coronavirus, and is awaiting approval from the Takamatsu City Public Health Center. With the third wave of the virus now underway, it is hoped that approval will come as soon as possible.
The facility will be responsible for PCR tests in the Chugoku-Shikoku and Kansai regions, with Kagawa Prefecture at its core, and through PCR tests will help build an economic foundation that is resilient to infectious diseases in the COVID-19 era. PCR tests are available to Kagawa residents for a lower price of 5,000 yen, lower than the 30% copayment required by insurance, which is expected to help ease the strain on fever outpatient clinics and emergency medical care.
